Children’s Book Cover Design for Amazon KDP
I designed a premium, story-driven children’s book cover for a client publishing on Amazon KDP. The goal was to create a visually emotional and engaging cover that instantly captures attention while reflecting the core themes of courage, kindness, and wisdom.
The design features a warm sunset color palette, soft painterly textures, and a strong focal composition to create a magical, storytelling atmosphere. I carefully balanced typography with illustration to ensure readability in both thumbnail and full-size views—crucial for KDP performance.
What I focused on:
• Eye-catching composition for high CTR on Amazon
• Kid-friendly yet premium illustration style
• Strong emotional storytelling through visuals
• Clean, readable typography optimized for thumbnails
• KDP-ready layout and formatting
This project highlights my ability to create high-converting, aesthetic book covers that not only look beautiful but also perform well in competitive marketplaces.

1. Find an image of a subject you're interested in, or use your own. For references use Unsplash/Pixabay if you want copyright free images.
2. Print the reference so that you can put a sheet of paper on top of it. If you have a light table, even better because then you avoid the pain of holding a paper against a window, to see the reference underneath.
3. Use a timer to avoid overthinking. This allows to focus on shape language and not details.
Rinse and repeat
This is a practice I used to do a lot, which I am now revisiting. It allows for a fast iterative process to explore shape language, and find interesting angles. Preferably do it without digital tools, but up to you.
The H Doggo grabbed my attention maybe due to the "popping" color. Both look great tho.
