Networking is different when you're a freelancer working remotely.
I've never been to a professional happy hour, never had a business card for my freelance writing work, and never given an in-person elevator pitch to someone I hoped would hire me.
And you know what? I'm grateful for that.
I didn't learn to exist in the marketing world the way a lot of people did, and I see that as a strength.
Being here in Brazil alongside other freelancers and remote workers, I feel seen. I don't have to explain why I chose this path, because they get it.
Networking can (and should) be intentional. I may not always have an opportunity like this one at Nomad Farm, but now I see how valuable it is to network this way – from the heart.

Now it's easier than ever to plug a couple of sentences into ChatGPT and come up with a 200-word LinkedIn post where the "writer" can share their so-called unique perspective on any subject matter.
I'm not very interested in sharing what I know about copywriting, if I'm being honest. Instead, I'd rather write about my life as a traveling writer. That's what authenticity looks like for me. Is it hard-hitting? Am I sharing in-depth insights about XYZ? No, and no.
