Rhyen Lab: Brand Identity & Packaging for a Skincare Brand
Rhyen Lab is a skincare brand built around science-backed formulas and a sensorial, human approach to beauty. The challenge was to create an identity that feels clinical enough to be trusted, yet warm and expressive enough to stand out in a crowded market.
I designed a custom wordmark with fluid, organic letterforms that echo the texture of serums and oils, paired with a bold monogram “R” for compact applications. A palette of deep olive green and soft cream keeps the brand grounded, natural and premium, while macro photography of skin and product textures reinforces the sensorial tone.
The system was applied across packaging for the Vitamin C Serum, Facial Cleanser and Moisturising Day Cream, ensuring consistency across tubes and bottles.

The olive and cream with that fluid wordmark lands the clinical but warm balance really well. Something I learned designing skincare for Amazon and Shopify is that tubes get judged at thumbnail size first, so the product type and the active need to read on the front panel even...
Thanks so much! I kept the wordmark dominant and the product name secondary to keep the packaging minimal. You’re right that legibility at thumbnail size matters, and I’d definitely increase the product name and active for e-commerce versions. Thanks for the insight!
Catarina, the clinical-vs-warm tension is well resolved. The olive and cream palette does the heavy lifting — olive reads premium and natural on shelf, cream keeps it gentle enough for the sensorial angle. The fluid wordmark echoing serum texture is a nice move; pairing it with...
REALLY nice! Super unique logotype and still easy to read. What does your exploration process look like to get to something like this? I'm so used to thinking about logos with mostly geometric forms that I don't even know how to approach something so organic.
Clinical enough to trust but still warm is such a hard balance in skincare, and you nailed it. The packaging feels calm and premium without being cold.
The R monogram over the serum drop is the strongest frame here. The counter of the R is cut like a droplet, so the mark and the macro photo are saying the same thing. Olive and cream is a good call for science plus skin, most of that shelf goes white and clinical. Did the client...
olive and cream is such a nice break from the usual white and pastel skincare shelf. the fluid wordmark against the solid R monogram is a good contrast too. did you test the R on the caps and pumps? that's always where it got tricky for me on my skincare project
The flowing RHYEN letterforms set in cream over that close-up skin shot feel exactly like a serum texture, and they hold up beautifully on the olive tubes
A little more about the inspiration behind Tindara.
I wanted the identity to have a connection to Tindari, Sicily. The Madonna di Tindari statue was the starting point for the symbol, while Sicilian decorative patterns inspired the graphics around it.
For the colors, I chose mustard yellow, deep green, and burgundy, balanced with cream. I wanted to bring some of that warmth and richness into the packaging, while keeping the different elements comfortable together.
For me, these references are what give the project its character and sense of place.
A little behind-the-scenes look at a brand identity coming together.
I'm currently working on a new identity for a coworking space in Austin, TX, with a vintage-inspired direction, warm colors, and a logo that brings a bit of nostalgia into a modern setting.
