BUKOL — Your Personal Inconvenience Handler
THE CHARACTER
BUKOL is your personal inconvenience handler. They live in a world where things work mostly, just never perfectly — where queues are long, forms need three signatures, and the bus is always twelve minutes late. Wherever life gets tedious, BUKOL is already there, tie straight, bump unbothered, handling everything without a single complaint. They are composed, persistent, and completely unperturbed. Because life wasn't meant to be spent in waiting rooms.
THE NAME
Bukol (ブコル, бюкол) means a lump or bump — specifically the classic cartoon egg-bump that appears on a character's head after impact. In Filipino usage it also carries the connotation of something persistent, something that won't go away. The mascot is the word made physical. That's not a coincidence, it's craft.

Mrs. Prior is the mascot of the Open Door Society — an organisation that helps women and anyone facing systemic barriers access opportunities, resources, and spaces that have been closed to them. We identify the obstacles, we find the way in, and we hold the door open for everyone who follows.
She doesn't protest. She doesn't explain. She arrives, she assesses, and she begins. Her tool is a single hairpin. Her method is whatever works.

Over the past 3 years, I’ve created several mascots for mobile apps.
The key lesson: a mascot should never be decoration.
It should guide, reassure, celebrate, and become part of the product’s voice.
I’m now preparing KEEPLI for the Recraft × Contra Mascot Challenge — not as one cute character, but as a full system across identity, stickers, mobile UX, and physical applications.
A strong mascot doesn’t sit next to the product.
It belongs inside it.
