Mbari Hub: Studio Website Redesign
Mbari Hub takes its name from Mbari Mbayo, "when we see it, we shall be happy." Seeing is believing. The studio exists to make brands visible, so the site needed to prove that in the first three seconds rather than explain it in the third paragraph.
What I did:
Positioning and messaging, including the mission line "a brand set on the hill cannot be hidden"
Full art direction, including the composited hero of a figure walking a mossy branch above its own reflection
Editorial type system built on a high-contrast serif with italic emphasis, paired with a clean sans for body
Dark UI with warm light, tuned so client work and packaging shots stay the brightest thing on the page
Responsive layouts across desktop and mobile, with the service sections restructured as questions instead of a feature list
Build, DNS, and analytics setup
Result: a site that sells the studio's core promise through the experience of using it, not just the copy.

When designing a music app, most teams start with the player screen.
We did too. It's the obvious center of gravity.
But when we worked on this concept, we noticed something. The player was the least interesting design challenge. Every music app has a player. Not every music app knows what you actually listen to.
So we built around the intelligence layer first Sound Intelligence. 18h 42m of listening time. 239 songs played. Peak listening 9 PM–12 AM. Genre distribution mapped across Lo-fi, Pop, R&B, and Others in a horizontal bar system that makes your taste visible at a glance.
The player came second. The library came third. And the AI Discovery panel 24 tracks, 96% match came last, because by the time a user reaches it, the app has already proven it understands them.
What we noticed was that designing analytics before aesthetics made the whole product feel smarter. The visuals followed the data, not the other way around.

Made for 21 June, when music spills into the streets, squares, bars and gardens of France. Three low-intervention rosés. Three personalities.
