Last year, I made a Notion doc about how to land your first client. It’s been collecting cobwebs in my files, and I keep seeing new people ask how to make it happen, so here ya go.
A bit dated, but most of the details are still relevant.
I’m sure it’ll help at least one of you, so check it out below. DM me if you’ve got any questions. Contra: Your First Client

Love that you're putting this out there. 💎 Landing that first client is always the hardest hurdle for new designers, and the fundamentals of client acquisition rarely go out of style.

Very true. The hardest part is starting. Once you do, it's only uphill from there.

hey bro! could you please explain something about keywords? where exactly should I put them so the platform pushes/promotes me through them and actually recognizes those keywords?
Arron's avatar
Good question! For your portfolio, you want to use keywords in your bio, case studies, about me section, project titles, captions, and services section. Use them everywhere you can! Keywords are basically the words Contra or search engines use to understand what your work is...
