Refine β€” Consume less, analyze more
Today, there are countless tools for saving website inspiration, but I never found one that truly matched the way I work.
I wanted to organize my references into collections and groups, find them easily using tags, but most importantly, preserve the thinking behind each inspiration. Why was this section interesting? What idea was it trying to communicate? Which element was worth keeping?
As a result, the inspirations were still there, but the analysis and reasoning that made them useful had disappeared. I would then have to dig through scattered notes or start the analysis all over again.
So I needed something simple. A place to store my inspirations, organize them, and preserve the context that makes them relevant over time.
Refine is primarily designed for websites, but also supports images and videos.
The Project
Refine is an inspiration library designed to preserve not only references, but also the reasoning that makes them useful. The goal is not simply to collect content, but to preserve the observations, ideas, and context that give value to each reference.
For this submission, I designed and developed:
- An inspiration library for websites, images, and videos
- A collections and groups system to organize references
- A tagging and quick search system
- Inspiration boards with context, observations, and notes
- An analysis framework based on Intent, Direction, and Extract
- Local browser storage for inspirations
- The complete product interface and design system

Additional Notes : Website previews are generated through a third-party screenshot service. The free service is limited to 50 screenshots per day. Once the limit is reached, Refine automatically falls back to favicons and restores previews as screenshots become available again.

What’s Next
Refine was born from a personal need. I wanted to stop accumulating inspiration without preserving what made it interesting. As the project evolved, the idea grew into something more ambitious. Not just saving references, but building a space capable of preserving the context, observations, and reflections that give them value.
This first version remains intentionally simple, but it already reflects how I would like to manage my inspirations on a daily basis. I’m excited to continue evolving Refine.
For those who would like to take ownership of the project and push it further, Refine can be run locally to integrate Playwright and save inspirations directly on your computer.
