Grab the Bears - A Camera-Based Gesture Interaction
A few years ago, gesture interaction required a full engineering team and months of development.
For the Figma Makeathon, I built a working camera-controlled gesture game on my own - entirely in Figma Make.
Grab the Bears reimagines tap and swipe as physical gestures. Players use their right hand to grab floating bears in real time.
• Camera-driven embodied interaction • Real-time gesture detection • Animated UI + sound micro-interactions • Dynamic result generation with shareable export?

What an incredible achievement! Building 'Grab the Bears,' a camera-controlled gesture game with real-time detection and an engaging UI, entirely within Figma Make and solo for the Makeathon, is truly outstanding. The innovation in reimagining interactions through embodied...

Really impressive — camera-based interaction inside Figma Make is a leap. Curious how you handled gesture recognition latency and feedback loops? The micro-response timing probably makes or breaks the experience

Appreciate it 🙌
Totally agree, perceived responsiveness is key. I focused on stabilizing detection and adding instant micro-feedback to keep the loop feeling tight. Still exploring ways to refine the interaction window.
Thanks for the thoughtful point!

That makes sense. Tight micro-feedback is everything in gesture systems — even 50–100ms drift can change perceived control. Refining the interaction window could be interesting if it adapts dynamically based on movement confidence.

Totally agree, micro-feedback defines control. Thanks for the sharp insight!

Really creative, really like the design too, i tried something with hand tracking so i understand the struggle.

Ahhh thank you, Nidhi!! 🐻✨
That makes me so happy, I might have accidentally made it too addictive 😂

This is such a nice project, very addicting. I don't know if it was my camera or something else but it was a bit difficult to catch the bears in the left side of the screen.

Thank you! 🙌
That’s a great catch. When reaching to the left, we naturally rotate the wrist a bit, which can affect recognition depending on the camera perspective. It’s a fascinating body–interaction nuance.
Definitely something I want to explore and improve. Thanks for testing it!

Absolutely love this turning gestures into playful, real-time interactions is next-level thinking. The combination of camera-driven input, dynamic feedback, and shareable results makes it feel alive. Love how Figma Make can now bring ideas like this to life without a full engineering team really inspiring!

So cool! Was this your first gestures camera game?
Victoria 's avatar

Thank you, Brianna! Yes, actually this was my first camera-gesture game. It still feels like magic that it’s possible to build something like this with no code in Figma.

am curious about the prompt you used to achieve this and what make model did you use this is really cool
Victoria 's avatar

Thank you, Simply7 Studio! I used Figma Make for this, the prompt was fairly simple, mostly describing the interaction and gesture control. Happy to share more details if helpful!
