How far should historical accuracy go when it weakens the story?
For this self-directed 1920s Chicago study, I researched the theatre façade, period fashion and social dance, then tested the final composition in grayscale. The historically closer dark marquee made the dancers disappear, so I kept the lighter version to restore their silhouettes and narrative focus.
