Untangling A Quiz Funnel Before It Ever Went Live
The client runs Work Sucks But I Like It, a professional development brand built around a book, a podcast, and a self assessment quiz grounded in real flow psychology. He came in brand new to Kit, just trying to get a quiz, a free guide, and a newsletter signup working together without stepping on each other.
Once inside the account, the real story showed up. What looked like a simple setup question turned into an actual rescue job. One existing automation was silently mixing newsletter and freebie signups into the same shared path. A duplicate rule pointed at the exact same sequence had never once run. And twelve real people had already signed up for a free guide that, it turned out, did not actually exist yet.
The fix started with untangling what was already there before adding anything new. Once that was cleared out, the client's scored quiz, twelve questions, five options each, four possible outcomes, got wired directly into Kit through tag based routing. Two clean signup forms went in for the newsletter and the freebie, each running its own separate, conflict free automation. A safeguard was added so retaking the quiz never leaves someone carrying two contradicting results, and another so a subscriber can move between paths without getting welcomed twice or lost somewhere in between.
By the end, the twelve subscribers who had been left waiting finally got what they signed up for, and the whole system was handed back fully tested, documented, and ready to scale, all wrapped inside the client's original one month timeline.
