On July 1, 2026, Russian rooftop climbers Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus climbed the antenna/spire of the Empire State Building and unfurled a massive black flag carrying a powerful message:

During their descent, Ivan proposed to Angela—and she said YES.
Moments later, the mood changed. A police helicopter arrived, NYPD officers responded, and the couple was eventually taken into custody.
