Mambo Heritage Website

Summary

Design a bespoke website to showcase the client’s work as an academic and architect, emphasizing his contributions to community development, architectural preservation, and a unique, design-focused approach to problem-solving.

Challenge: Communicating a multifaceted vision that fuses cryptocurrency, preservation of traditional wisdom, physical spaces, products, and interconnected projects.

Goal: Create a visually engaging and interactive design that reflects the client’s innovative vision while grounding it in Kenyan heritage and architectural expertise.

My Role

UX/UI designer responsible for the complete visual design and prototyping.

Facilitated multiple client interviews to capture the vision accurately and ensure creative alignment.

Supported the client in crafting and refining the website copy.

Executed the project using Figma for design and prototyping, and Photoshop for image editing and enhancements.

1. Understanding the Vision

Conducted in-depth interviews with the client to understand his multidisciplinary vision.

Reviewed shared resources, including pitch decks, short articles, and previous architectural brands the client had founded.

Analyzed a collection of inspiring images provided by the client, featuring his work and experiences throughout Kenya, to establish visual context.

2. Design Approach

Emphasized Kenyan heritage and architectural aesthetics while incorporating modern, innovative elements.

Created visuals that felt fresh and connected to tradition, reflecting the client’s background in architecture and community work.

Implemented highly interactive elements and a sleek, user-friendly design to convey the complexity of the client’s vision.

3. Tools and Execution

Designed the entire project in Figma, producing a highly detailed prototype that developers used to create an accurate final product.

Utilized Photoshop for image editing to enhance visuals and maintain consistency across the design.

Collaborated closely with the client on copywriting, offering coaching and feedback to ensure clarity and alignment with the design.
