Brexit has had many reasons for why it happened and many consequences that followed. One of the aspects people tend to forget is the build-up to Brexit: what happened behind the scenes of Brexit and how is the public involved in this. The main factor that may answer these questions is elites. Elites are the reason why the public sway in a specific direction, or why institutions that we have today, such as the European Union, exist. They are a superior group of individuals that have power over the masses due to the power of their influence and wealth.
