This project was a university-given task that attempted to argue for co-educational schools. It is a project I am extremely proud of and one that brings about, not only the progression of sex and gender in education but, the importance of providing education equally.

Education, as an institution, was first provided only for boys, while girls were expected to be taught at home (Ogden, 2011, p. 13). This began the upheld tradition of single-sex schools with countries such as Ireland and the UK having the longest history of single-sex education. However, single-sex education began to fight for its ideologies as liberal views started to spread in the early 20th century. Following this, the concept of co-educational schools began (Sullivan, Joshi & Leonard, 2010, p. 7).
