The Latin Music Project from the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance is a community-based initiative in partnership with Chicago Public School providing music education for youth from 8-18.
It includes after-school classes where students learn how to play the cuatro – a midsized guitar prominent in Latin music – guitar, and violin. Participants also learn how to read music, play traditional Latin American songs, and perform in group settings.
True story designed a flexible brand identity for LMP in which letter pairs within the name move up and down in intervals defined by a music staff in a range of possibilities. The 5-lined staff appears as a supporting element, but as 4 solid color bands in a variety of color treatments.
