Filter coffee is more than what’s in the cup. It’s the aroma that fills the room, the familiar ritual of pouring a hot cup and the conversations that naturally follow.
For this Cafe Coffee Day packaging concept, I wanted to turn that feeling into a visual story. The steam rising from the coffee becomes a continuous thread, carrying elements of South Indian coffee culture; from coffee cherries and foliage to architecture and eventually, a conversation over coffee.
The idea connects back to a thought that feels intrinsic to the brand:
A Lot Can Happen Over Coffee.

A familiar ritual, given a new expression.
The design takes cues from the visual language of South Indian filter coffee without relying on the usual coffee-packaging cliches.
A deep coffee-toned background gives the pack a bold, premium presence, while warm cream illustration and subtle Cafe Coffee Day red accents keep it familiar and approachable. The background pattern draws inspiration from the perforations of a traditional South Indian coffee filter, adding a quiet product reference without competing with the main illustration.
The typography was kept bold and straightforward, giving FILTER COFFEE POWDER immediate shelf visibility while allowing the illustration to remain the hero.
From Procreate to Photoshop
The hero illustration was drawn from scratch in Procreate, where I developed the coffee-inspired elements and built the continuous steam composition.
The artwork was then brought into Adobe Photoshop to build the final packaging, combining the illustration with typography, brand elements, colour treatment and the final pouch presentation.
The process was about keeping the illustration expressive and handcrafted while refining it into a clean, retail-ready packaging design.

A lot can happen over coffee.
The final design brings together South Indian coffee culture, storytelling and Cafe Coffee Day's approachable personality in a contemporary retail format.
The rising aroma becomes the visual thread connecting the product to the moments, conversations and traditions that happen around a cup of filter coffee.
