Jamie xx - Sleep Sound Visual Rework

Sleep Sound is the second installment in my ongoing rework of Jamie xx’s In Colour visual album. In this series, I rebuild each track as a motion-based interpretation that transforms sound into visual rhythm through color, timing, and movement.
This piece began with the idea of quiet energy. I wanted to capture how the track pulses gently, constantly moving without ever breaking its calm. The scene opens with a soft purple background breathing under a yellow rectangle, while pink, blue, and green accents respond to individual stems from the song. Each change in color and motion is synced to the rhythm of the vocals, creating a balanced flow that expands and contracts with the tempo.
The entire visual was created in Cinema 4D using audio-reactive effectors and fields to connect the stems directly to motion. Instead of sharp cuts or flashing lights, I aimed for a fluid texture where the visuals feel like they are drifting in sync with the music. The result is a sense of dreamlike movement where sound and shape become inseparable.
As the track progresses, the rectangle slowly shifts from flat to dimensional, hinting at growth and awakening. By the end, the scene fades back into stillness, echoing the cyclical rhythm of sleep and memory that defines the tone of the song.
Sleep Sound builds on the foundation of Gosh, continuing to explore Jamie xx’s connection between simplicity, repetition, and emotion. Each motion choice, color shift, and camera movement is designed to make the music visible and alive.
