Case Study: Rebel Remake – From Trash to Treasure

Project Overview

Rebel Remake is an upcycled waste company that transforms discarded materials into gallery-quality artwork and home decor. The goal was to build a digital storefront that captured a "Professional, Fun, and Hip" identity while managing a high-volume inventory of up to 300 unique, one-of-a-kind (SKU) products.

The Challenge

The client needed a sophisticated e-commerce solution capable of handling a massive, ever-changing catalog. Key challenges included:
User Experience: Ensuring customers could browse hundreds of items without losing their place.
Brand Aesthetic: Balancing an "earthy" environmentally friendly vibe with a modern, high-end feel.
Performance: Optimizing high-resolution imagery (2048x2048) for fast load times and SEO.
Client Empowerment: Creating a backend simple enough for a non-technical artist to manage daily.

Strategic Solutions

1. Custom Brand-Centric Design

I developed a custom WordPress theme utilizing an earthy color palette and clean sans-serif typography. The layout was designed to be fully responsive, ensuring a seamless shopping experience across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

2. Advanced E-Commerce Infrastructure

Using WooCommerce, I built a robust architecture to support 300+ unique SKUs. I specifically optimized the navigation functionality, implementing a "sticky" scroll and back-button logic so customers return to their exact previous position in the shop, significantly reducing bounce rates.

3. SEO & Accessibility Optimization

To ensure the art reached the right audience, I implemented a rigorous SEO strategy:
Image Compression: Automated workflows to shrink large files without losing artistic detail.
Alt-Text Implementation: Added descriptive alt-text to every product to improve screen-reader accessibility and Google Image search ranking.
On-Page SEO: Custom-crafted meta descriptions and URL structures for all primary pages.

4. Sustainable Content Management

I configured a simplified WordPress dashboard and provided a customized "Quick Start Guide" to allow the client to independently manage their "News & Events" and one-of-a-kind product updates.
