Project Name: Apperture Promotional Video Style: Stock Footage + Motion Graphics Promo

Client: Apperture Scope: Concept, storyboard, footage curation, motion design, sound design Timeline: 2 weeks Tools: After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator
Problem:
Client needed a promo video to launch their product and explain the service - but a full custom shoot wasn't in the budget or timeline. The challenge: make a video that feels bespoke and cinematic, not like generic stock footage stitched together with a logo slapped on top. Most stock-based videos read as cheap or interchangeable - the brief was to avoid that at all costs while hitting a tight turnaround.
Insight:
Stock footage fails when it's used as filler. It works when it's treated as raw material for a designed system - graded to a consistent palette, cut to a deliberate rhythm, and layered with motion graphics that carry the brand's actual message. The insight: the footage shouldn't tell the story - the typography, transitions, and UI/data overlays should. Footage becomes atmosphere; motion graphics carry meaning.
Solution: Curated a tight footage library around one visual mood (color temperature, camera movement, subject matter) so nothing felt stock-shuffled Built a custom color grade to unify disparate clips into one cohesive world. Layered motion graphics - kinetic typography, icon systems, data visualizations, UI call-outs - to carry the actual message and brand voice the footage alone couldn't Designed pacing around a music track, cutting on beat to give a stock-based edit the same energy as a custom shoot. Added transitions and overlays (glitch wipes, light leaks, geometric masks) to smooth footage-to-footage cuts and disguise mismatched source clips.
Impact: Delivered in 2 weeks - a fraction of the cost and time of a custom shoot. Client reused the same visual system for follow-up content/campaign, extending ROI beyond the original brief.
