Military Family Support Platform Design

Designed the Event Calendar as the primary discovery tool for military families to find local activities, base-wide events, meet-ups, workshops, and family-friendly gatherings. I created intuitive filtering and view options that help users quickly identify relevant events based on location, interest, and date. The interface accommodates both on-base and local community events, recognizing that military families engage with both military and civilian communities. Visual design emphasizes upcoming events while maintaining easy access to monthly and weekly views, helping families plan ahead despite busy military schedules.

Conceptualized and designed Circles—community groups where military families connect based on shared interests, duty stations, or lifestyles (Military Moms, Fitness Groups, PCS Support). I created a flexible privacy system with three tiers: Public (open joining and visible content), Private (request-to-join with private content), and Secret/Classified (invite-only and invisible to non-members). This privacy architecture addresses the sensitive nature of military life while enabling authentic community building. The interface makes discovering, joining, and managing groups intuitive, with clear visual indicators for privacy levels and engagement activity.

Designed Base & Beyond as the central resource hub addressing both on-base and off-base needs of military families. I organized content into intuitive categories covering military benefits, deployment preparation, PCS guides, local community resources, childcare options, healthcare information, and recreational activities. The interface balances base-specific military resources with local civilian community information, recognizing that military families navigate both worlds simultaneously. Created robust search and filtering capabilities alongside browsable categories, ensuring families can quickly find critical information whether they know exactly what they're looking for or are exploring new duty station resources during transitions.

Designed the Direct Messaging feature enabling one-on-one and group conversations within the app, eliminating the need for external communication tools. I created an intuitive messaging interface that supports text, media sharing, and conversation management. The design balances functionality with simplicity, ensuring users can quickly connect with community members they meet through Events or Circles. Privacy and safety considerations guided design decisions, with clear user controls and reporting mechanisms to maintain a supportive, secure environment for military families
