📌 Overview

Mautner Markhof is an architecture and design firm renowned for its monumental, artistic, and timeless approach to space. As a team of architects, visual artists, and designers, their brand reflects boldness and sophistication — and their digital presence needed to live up to that standard.

🚩 The Challenge

The existing website lacked visual hierarchy and was difficult to navigate. The outdated layout failed to reflect the creative and architectural strength of the Mautner Markhof brand. My task was to completely redesign the site, while staying faithful to their brand guidelines and vision.

🎯 Goals

Create a modern, minimalist, and clean digital experience
Emphasize the firm’s monumental architectural language
Improve usability and navigation logic
Maintain brand identity through structure and styling

💡 The Solution

I redesigned the Mautner Markhof website with a focus on clarity, structure, and elegance. The approach was minimal yet powerful — echoing the core of their architectural work.
Key solutions:
Optimized layout and navigation, allowing users to move fluidly through content
Improved information architecture for better readability
Implemented visual whitespace to create a sense of calm and precision
Simplified structure while showcasing imagery and projects with focus and dignity
Typography, spacing, and interaction were treated with architectural rigor — everything had a grid, a rule, and a purpose to echo the firm’s design philosophy.

📈 Results

The result is a clean and powerful online presence for Mautner Markhof. The updated design reflects their original vision:
Monumental
Minimal
Intuitive
Now users are guided through the site naturally — discovering the firm’s portfolio, philosophy, and vision with ease and clarity.
