Chapter and Verse: a pay-law assistant that cites its source

The problem

Ask a language model about overtime pay and it answers fluently, cites a section, and sometimes the section says something else. Chapter and Verse is a labour-pay assistant that answers only what it can trace to a source, and shows the gap when it cannot.

How it stays honest

One claim, one provision. Every statement in an answer names the single provision it rests on.
A separate verifier sees only that provision and the claim, nothing else, and has to agree.
Quotes are matched in code against the source text; an altered quotation is never shown as a quotation.
Gaps are answers too. Anything it cannot prove is shown as a gap rather than filled in.

Measured

Graded on 26 questions, 14 of them traps: zero altered quotes shown to the reader, and the gap reported in 4 of 4 questions the corpus cannot answer. Covers US federal and California labour law and the full Labour Code of the Kyrgyz Republic; standard-library Python. Built for the Build With AI challenge on Devpost.
