The Vow Story — Editorial Wedding Photography Website

Role: Web Designer & Framer Developer (Design + Build) Tools: Framer, Claude code Live site: https://thevowstory.framer.website/ Overview

The Vow Story is a self-initiated portfolio project built to explore what a modern, editorial-style website for a wedding photographer could look like. Rather than relying on a generic template, the goal was to design an experience that felt as intentional and emotive as the photography it would showcase quiet, elegant, and detail driven. The Brief (Self-Directed)

Wedding photography sites tend to fall into two traps: either overly busy template layouts that compete with the imagery, or flat galleries with no narrative flow. I set out to design something in between a site that reads like a visual love story, with enough restraint to let full-bleed photography carry the emotion, and enough interactivity to keep visitors engaged as they scroll.
Design goals:
Let the photography lead — minimal chrome, maximum imagery
Build a sense of narrative pacing (hero → story → portfolio → services → testimonials)
Use motion and hover states to add a tactile, "editorial magazine" feel without becoming gimmicky
Keep the tone warm and personal, not corporate

Design & Build Process

Hero & Story Framing The homepage opens with an interactive, hover-to-reveal image treatment paired with a soft editorial tagline.
Portfolio Section Each portfolio entry is treated as its own mini-story paired images, a date, and a two-line title ("Bride Elena / Love, Captured") mimicking how a real editorial spread would present a wedding feature rather than a plain image grid.
Services Carousel Built a swipe/drag-to-rotate card carousel for the "Services" section (Full Wedding Coverage, Pre-Wedding Shoots, Custom Packages), giving the page a tactile, interactive moment rather than a static list.
Social Proof Testimonial cards alternate between portrait and landscape image treatments to keep the scroll rhythm visually varied instead of repetitive.
Responsive & Interaction Design All hover/tap interactions were designed to degrade gracefully between desktop (hover) and mobile (tap), so the experience stays consistent across devices.
