Overview

The creative challenge wasn’t summarizing 110 minutes. It was finding the 0.8% worth teasing.
Watched the full conversation twice before editing to find moments with personality, tension, vulnerability, and curiosity.
Built the trailer around a simple principle: open the story, but don’t finish it.
Structured seven moments into a five-beat arc that moves from vulnerability to a contrarian idea, the episode thesis, social proof, and finally humor.

Challenges

Reduce a 1 hour 49 minute conversation to 55 seconds without making it feel like a random highlight montage.
Find human moments that could make an intellectual VC conversation immediately compelling.
Create enough context for each clip to land while deliberately leaving questions unanswered.
Make a dialogue-heavy trailer work equally well with or without sound.
Keep 243 words of on-screen typography readable without covering the personalities driving the story.

What I Delivered

A 55-second cinematic launch trailer built from seven selects across the full interview
A five-beat narrative structure with cold open, thesis, title drop, proof stack, and comedic button
Word-by-word kinetic typography for 243 spoken words, manually timed to individual syllables
Intentional use of white typography with selective red emphasis for high-impact words
19 hard cuts shaped around dialogue and narrative tension
Film-grain chapter transitions
A custom viewfinder montage introducing previous podcast guests
A bespoke 3D pill animation supporting the final psychedelics joke
Music progression designed to build continuously toward the closing punchline
A trailer structured to create open loops that only the full episode resolves

Impact

Turned a nearly two-hour interview into a 55-second reason to watch it.
Positioned the episode around personality and curiosity rather than simply listing its strongest talking points.
Created a sound-off-friendly visual system where the typography becomes part of the edit itself.
Applied a repeatable packaging approach built to turn long-form podcast conversations into compelling discovery assets.
The broader content approach has been used on podcast work that grew from zero to 22.9K subscribers and 2.45M views.
