Working for the OG player in the cannabis space to create this product was tons of fun and a great pleasure. HVY was my first time creative directing packaging and it was a tremendous success. The project won two different Clio awards for packaging and product service innovation. A bottle this sexy caught the eyes of several beverage purveyors and had folks like Patron and Hennessey wishing they had snagged a line on this bottle design first.
From the matte black soft-touch finish to the double-winged value-added packaging featuring the photography of Erik Nugshots, the final product is a combination of luxury liquor and a classic 4 record rock and roll LP record. The bottle was accompanied by a smoked rocks glass, a jigger for measuring your dose, and a silver foil stamped curatorial card further detailing the product's best uses and effects.
In all, I spent 6 months on the project and continued the contract for 12 more months after that as director of retail. The packaging for HVY was considered an expedited deployment since most products getting this level of attention to detail in the fine spirits category typically have a maturing period of 3-15 years.
