PDF Tables to Excel: Traceable Product Data

A specification PDF is easy to read, but its tables are awkward to filter, sort or reuse. This original fictional project demonstrates a careful conversion into a structured Excel workbook.
A two-page product sheet was created, then its actual embedded-text tables were extracted with pdfplumber. The workbook contains 12 desk-accessory records with seven product fields. Dimensions and pack quantities are numeric; five-character item IDs remain text with their leading zeros intact.
Four tabs keep the handoff clear: Extracted holds the usable data, Source preserves the parser’s original strings, Checks compares every field, and README explains the workflow and limits. Page and row references connect each record to its source.
Validation matched all 84 fields against the source fixture and checked the exported workbook independently. Both PDF pages and all workbook sheets were visually reviewed.
This is an AI-assisted portfolio demonstration, not client work. It covers text-based tables, not scanned-document OCR or handwriting.
