A 42-second animated promo that turns the founder journey into an 8-bit platform game. I used the familiar rhythm of retro gaming to make a high-pressure pitch experience feel clear, human, and memorable.
The brief
Kuberan’s House needed a promotional film that could communicate the friction founders face while building toward investment opportunities. Rather than explain that journey with a conventional explainer, I built a visual metaphor viewers could understand in seconds.
The idea
The founder becomes the player. A briefcase-carrying pixel character moves through a side-scrolling world where startup obstacles become literal gameplay.
Rejection and criticism appear as hazards to navigate.
Game-style instruction cards carry the emotional message: keep going, clear the hurdle, believe in the idea.
The final castle represents Kuberan’s House as the destination for founders ready to pitch, seek funding, and find mentorship.
My role
I led the project from concept through final animation:
Concept development and visual storytelling
Storyboarding and scene pacing
Pixel-art environment and asset design
2D motion design and animation
Game-style UI and typographic treatments
Social-first cutdowns and static promotional stills
Design system
The visual language borrows from classic arcade platformers without relying on a standard corporate explainer format. Pixel environments, lava pits, castle platforms, loading bars, retro UI, and responsive motion give the story a consistent world and a clear forward direction.
Deliverables
1 promotional video in 16:9
Social-media cutdowns in 9:16
High-resolution promotional stills
Outcome
The finished piece gave Kuberan’s House a playful, story-led way to frame a difficult founder experience, while keeping the platform’s purpose at the center of the narrative.
