Gerard Coll teaches email marketing on Instagram to people who want a remote side income. His content had to do two jobs at once: stop the scroll in the first second and turn viewers into comments, DMs and booked calls. The work was editing his short-form videos and designing the thumbnails that make the grid read as one channel.
Editing system
Hooks first. Every reel opens with a one-word headline that is also the thumbnail: Compraste, Trabajaba, Sueldo, Trading, Campaña. The viewer knows the topic before the first sentence ends.
Pace. Cuts every one to two seconds, punch-in zooms on key lines, dead air removed, so a 40 second reel never feels slow.
Captions. Word-by-word captions with one highlighted keyword per line, readable with the sound off, which is how most people watch.
Call to action. Each reel ends with a single comment keyword (FILTRO, CAMINO, NUMEROS) that triggers a DM, so engagement turns into leads.
Thumbnails and grid
A consistent cover system: blue gradients, bold condensed headlines, the creator in frame with one prop that tells the story (a hard hat, a phone with numbers, a red book), alternating with clean carousel covers so the profile looks designed, not random.
Stack
CapCut for editing, auto captions and templates, Figma for thumbnails and carousel covers, Instagram Reels formats in 9:16.
