You must have come across the word ‘Feminism’ very often in your daily life, but do you know the genesis of this word. This word is highly misunderstood as of now that feminism exists to fight and ridicule men. The need for a movement like feminism came into motion when the women in the 1840’s came forward to demand equal rights for voting and every other cultural aspect that men receive from the moment they are born. From that time till now, the fight for equal rights is being fought in several parts of the world. One of those countries where there is an alarming need for equal women’s rights is India. India, being a progressive nation still needs to work a lot on women’s issues. Women are stereotyped on various levels of their lives about their clothing, freedom, and even their profession. As per the “intellectuals” they seem to have no right to an opinion about anything. To sum up, everything that is stated above, we as a nation need to start a conversation about equal rights for women, and men need to equally participate in this fight against the decades-old patriarchal notions and create a world that gives equal rights and responsibilities to everyone without any prejudice to any gender.
