- Client’s Commercial Services division was in need of a business analyst on an ongoing basis to analyse their business needs and arrive at project proposals and securing business case approvals for projects needing IT involvement

- Multiple options to deploy UK based business analyst have been tried. They got the resources, but nobody continued in that role for more than 6 months for previous 3 years

- Client needed stability to this role, while ensuring that he/she is skilled in utilities domain, business analysis, proposals writing, project management & estimates

- Since CGI was a framework partner, client has approached CGI for availability of people with relevant skillset

- Following client interviews, I was selected for this role

- Role: Business analyst in client’s team, as a single point of contact in IT team for Commercial Services business

- This role largely involved pre-project initiation work i.e. defining business problem, document anticipated business outcomes, business process mapping, gather business requirements, arrive at solution options, run tenders with IT suppliers, prepare proposals, secure exec approvals, SoW signoffs and handing over projects to delivery team

- Analysed and resolved PEMS system issues reported by an external industry party that was constantly escalated for 2+ years, causing reputational damage

- Client had stability to this role, as I worked for 2+ years, until I resigned from CGI

- Client was quite happy with my outputs - evident by the fact that within a month of me starting in this role, client has asked CGI for another Business Analyst with similar skillset as me, a position that could not be filled during my tenure

- Even after I moved out, my replacement from CGI could not survive. Same with a subsequent replacement from CGI too, which highlights the role complexity

- Personally, this role gave me a unique opportunity to work on proposals at client end, thereby understanding how client’s evaluate bid responses from IT suppliers

- I was the only offshore based business analyst, while rest of the members in client’s team were UK based
