I would send personalized Thank You cards, and network outreach, sending out that first email after getting someone's business card. I would do little tasks to help take off some of the workload that wasn't labeled as important for the daily operations.

Every week I would make a mock thank you card for the event that, my client had that week that entailed her sending a thank you card, or an appreciation card.
