Auto-advance slide synced with audio narration.
Tool: Articulate Storyline 360
Type: Audio-Narrated Product Demonstration
Audience: Sales teams, retail employees, customer service representatives preparing for product presentations
The Problem
Product demonstrations in e-learning often rely on text-heavy slides that force learners to read dense specifications while simultaneously processing visuals - a split attention effect that reduces comprehension. Sales teams need to learn not just what features exist, but how to explain them verbally to customers. This project solves that by modeling professional product narration, letting learners hear how to present features persuasively while seeing them visually.
Learning Objectives
• Identify four key smartphone features - Camera, Battery, Display, and Performance
• Explain technical specifications using customer-friendly language
• Present product features verbally by modeling the narration structure
• Understand how to sequence product information for maximum impact
My Design Decisions
• Why audio narration over text-based slides?
When learners need to verbally present information to customers, text instruction isn't enough. Audio narration models tone, pacing, word choice, and enthusiasm - preparing learners to deliver similar presentations themselves. The medium is the message.
• Why auto-advance instead of click-through?
Auto-advance mimics real product demonstration pacing. Learners experience the flow as it would actually be delivered to a customer, rather than stopping to click between every point.
• Why benefit-focused narration language?
"All-day power" teaches more than "5000mAh" alone. Benefit-focused language models exactly how sales teams should speak to customers - this distinction was built deliberately into every narration script.
• Why orange-red gradient instead of blue?
Blue is overused in e-learning. The orange-red gradient reflects smartphone brand energy and demonstrates design awareness - color choices should reflect the product's personality, not just default conventions.
Technical Highlights
• Audio recorded directly in Storyline with fade in and fade out effects on every slide
• Slide timeline duration set to audio length plus a one-second buffer preventing cutoff
• Auto-advance triggers firing when timeline ends for seamless demonstration flow
• Manual control retained on welcome and thank you slides giving learners start and replay control
• Volume normalized across all slides for consistent listening experience throughout
What I Learned
This is the only project in this portfolio with audio narration, and it taught me that recording professional audio is a genuine skill - early takes sounded robotic until I learned conversational delivery. It also showed me that timing precision matters more than I expected: audio must finish before a slide advances, and a one-second buffer is the difference between a polished experience and an abrupt cutoff. Most importantly, it proved that sometimes the most powerful instructional choice is letting the audio itself be the instruction.
