One fire, twelve courses, and no gas line

Concept case study by STAY → STORY. Ember is a fictional 22-seat chef's tasting room created to demonstrate our method. It is not a client project.

The problem

"Innovative fine dining with a seasonal tasting menu, creative dishes and an extensive wine list." Fine dining copy is full of words like these, and none of them tell you why to book.

What we studied

Diner reviews, the website, Google Maps and booking platforms, the menu, the city's other tasting menus, and what AI assistants suggest when people ask for a memorable dinner.

The hidden story

The kitchen has no gas line. Every course is cooked over one wood fire the chef lights at noon. Diners mention the smoke and the flame; the restaurant talked about "seasonality".

Place DNA

Elemental, focused, warm. The feeling diners should leave with: I watched a whole evening come out of one flame.

Positioning

For diners who want a story on every plate: the tasting room built around a single fire.

The story

"There is no gas in our kitchen. At noon, the chef lights one fire, and every one of tonight's twelve courses passes through it."

Discovery

A menu story, course descriptions and answer-ready facts for questions like "Is there a tasting menu cooked entirely over wood fire?", aligned across the website, Google and booking platforms.

The deliverable

A Story Kit (Table edition): Place DNA, ideal diners, positioning, the story in three lengths, menu story, ready-to-paste copy for every platform, 10 AI-ready FAQs and five next actions.
