Splice — Song Feedback ft. John Legend Post-Production Editorial
Not many editing gigs start with "John Legend is going to react to fan demos." This was one of them.
Splice pulled off something genuinely special here, giving their Discord community the chance to have their tracks heard and critiqued by one of the most decorated artists in pop and R&B. A EGOT winner sitting down with unsigned producers and songwriters, giving real, unfiltered feedback on arrangement, lyrics, chord progressions, vocals, and overall feel. No fluff, no softening the edges.
Professional video editing for music content at this level requires more than knowing your way around a timeline. Editing a react and feedback format with world-class talent demands a sharp editorial eye, an instinct for narrative pacing, and the experience to know how to handle high-profile subjects on screen. The pacing has to honor both sides of the screen, the artist reacting and the music being heard. Every song submission needed space to land before John responded, and his feedback needed room to breathe without the edit feeling slow. Getting that rhythm right across multiple tracks, each with its own energy and emotional weight, was the core editorial challenge.
For music brands, record labels, and content studios investing in premium video production, this is the kind of work that separates a competent editor from a creative collaborator. The goal was to make every aspiring songwriter watching feel like they were in the room. That intimacy does not happen by accident. It is built cut by cut, with intentional editorial decisions that serve the story, the talent, and the audience equally.
If you are looking for an experienced video editor and creative director for music content, artist features, branded entertainment, or documentary-style production, this project is a strong example of what that partnership looks like at the highest level.
