Project Overview

For the launch of Wilson Tennis's Rush Pro 4.0 Tennis Shoe line, I was contacted to head creative, direct and edit the commercial they were planning to launch on all of their social and online channels including Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, TikTok and more.

The difficulty logistically that I was able to overcome with the help of my crew, is that the star of the commercial, Jenson Brooksby, was beating the odds in the Indian Wells Tournament occurring the week prior to our shoot. So It wasn't until two days before that I even had confirmation that our talent would be there. Other obstacles we came included re-drafting the entire creative due to a last minute client decision to try and include one of their other female tennis stars as well. That idea ended up falling through due to client scheduling issues and the following commercial is the result. I aimed to show someone dedicated to their craft, competing against the number one opponent we all have, ourselves. The commercial starts with Jenson walking down an empty tunnel, the same route he often takes to get to his arena. From there, we mixed intense shots of Jenson's exuded effort on the court with key shots of the shoes themselves.

We captured all of the video we needed with the allotted time we had Jenson for, which was an hour and a half. In that time, we also covered Principal Photography and shot as many images as Wilson needed to market their shoe line appropriately and with style. Including myself, I directed a crew of over 25 people on this shoot and every single one of them was needed. We filmed on Arri Alexa's and covered most of our action shots with a Fisher Dolly as well as a Stedicam Rig. Color was handled in Davinci in coordination with one of the best colorists in the world.
