Roses in Sand | Artistic Concept

A JOYFUL RESISTANCE
A theatrical dance performance of a woman's story in particular, yet felt on a global parallel.
Introduction & Purpose of the Event
Art Take Productions is back with their 2nd installment of their Roses in Sand performance but with a new focus on the Kurdish region of Iraq and the women that have empowered their country with an indelible impact. The well-credited NYTimes dance company, Project TAG, will continue to be the headliner to share the real stories inspired by the life of the choreographer's sister, Sarah.
The grand purpose of this performance is to spotlight the issues women face around the globe today and have dealt with tirelessly and in some cases more radical than others. And how they've accepted the unsought empowerment bestowed upon them. This is in the hopes of creating more awareness to create some form of immediate realization & change.
The Synopsis of the Performance
How do we share a woman's story. We can't. And that's the beauty and the struggle of understanding a women's life in conflict. The least we can do is share a glimpse into their life through the eyes of those closest to them.
This is the story of Sarah.
It starts with unveiling the natural instincts of a woman. The love she's encountered down to the oppression wildly known but seldom spoken about. We will dive deeper and uncover the weight behind the cover of the hijab. And how consistently the world will tell her how to be.
No matter the magnitude of the situation, men still try to control women's lives.
This story however is bigger than just one person. As heavy as this one woman's burden
Will be felt, we need to acknowledge that this weight is felt by an entire population of
women. No matter the background or upbringing, there is simply an oppression that needs to be addressed and resolved.
Thus concluding, a joyful resistance.
