Designing A One Stop Logistics Shop for Small Businesses

The objective of this project was to design a portal that targets both small businesses

and logistics companies as customers for a self storage company. I adopted a design

first mindset to identify the needs of different stakeholders, map their jobs to be

done and ultimately design a product that is in sync with the market it serves. From

concept design to user interface and a complete design of the service, I was able to

propose a design that prioritized stakeholder needs.

Determining product market fit was top of mind for me, so I started by conducting a

thorough market research that involved desk research, expert and empathy

interviews. Based on our insights, I developed value propositions for stakeholders,

ultimately recommending partnering with logistics companies to provide services for

small businesses instead of the original model. Using mind mapping activities helped

me ideate on information architecture and concept designs. When the team

converged on a final design based on feedback, I mapped out the entire experience

including people, processes and technology and recommended a phased approach

based on iteration and constant pursuit of user feedback

The project culminated in a final portal design with an initial (MVP) version and a

future version following a three phased implementation plan, approved by product owners.

The portal launched in March 2021, within 6 months of project completion, and secured

5* google reviews, and constant featuring in the news
