Project Summary
Upon collaborating with the early startup client from the initial stages of ideation and discovery, I had the opportunity of providing creative input for the overall direction of the project "loop." Upon refining direction through UX research and establishing a clear minimum viable product with the client, I was appointed the role of sole digital product designer for the project, and became responsible for the full UX/UI process, from discovery to delivery.
By the time the project was handed off to the client, loop had become a concept iOS app with an accompanying prototype, centered on light-hearted, local community engagement and dialogue through anonymized interactions.
Phase 1
Phase 1 involved UX research, market research, and user interviews to zero in on essential features and establish information architecture, user flows, and wire frames for an MVP with anonymous user profiles. This minimum viable product established with the client through research efforts included: composing (3) unique feeds, public & private reply functionality, content filtering, and a search option for exploration -- all with anonymous user interactions.
Phase 2
In the second phase of the project, I conducted another round of user interviews to gather feedback on the MVP. This feedback helped me to refine the UI and branding assets, in alignment with the client's interest in deviating from "Flat Design" and offering a more hyperbolic take on "Neumorphism."
Phase 3
The final phase of the project involved completing a comprehensive Figma prototype and conducting usability testing. This allowed me to gather qualitative user feedback and make final design refinements. The completed hand-off file was then delivered to the client.
Project Goals
- Create a concept iOS app with accompanying prototype, centered on light-hearted, local community engagement and dialogue through anonymized interactions.
- Establish information architecture, user flows, and wire frames for an MVP with anonymous user profiles.
- Refined UI in that deviates from "Flat Design" and offers a hyperbolic take on "Neumorphism".
- Conduct usability testing and gather qualitative user feedback to shape the final design refinements.
My Tasks
- Conduct UX research, market research, and user interviews to zero in on essential features and establish information architecture, user flows, and wireframes for an MVP with anonymous user profiles.
- Collaborate with the client on the foundational features and branding assets.
- Refine the UI to be more in alignment with the client's interest in deviating from "Flat Design" and offering a more hyperbolic take on "Neumorphism".
- Conduct usability testing and gather qualitative user feedback to shape the final design refinements.
Key Accomplishments
- Developed a concept iOS app with accompanying prototype that met the client's needs and goals.
- Established information architecture, user flows, and wire frames for an MVP with anonymous user profiles.
- Refined the UI to be more in alignment with the client's interest in deviating from "Flat Design" and offering a more hyperbolic take on "Neumorphism".
- Conducted usability testing and gathered qualitative user feedback to shape the final design refinements.
Benefits to Clients
- A concept iOS app with accompanying prototype that can be used to test the market and gather user feedback.
- A well-defined information architecture, user flows, and wire frames that can be used to develop the final product.
- A refined UI that is more in line with the client's branding and design preferences.
- Usability testing and qualitative user feedback that can be used to improve the final product.
