A media streaming app that puts the user in control of a million dollar experience for less than $20/month.

Overview

Amplify is a media streaming app that is targeted at users between the ages of 18 to 24 years old that are tech savvy and budget conscious.
The problem is that the company currently has plenty of subscribers to their Free Account, but not enough PAID subscribers. This is having a negative effect on revenue and needs to be addressed ASAP.

Summary

My Role:

Product Designer (UX Research, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Project Management, Product Marketing, Prototyping, Product Management, Data Analyst)

Challenges:

Generational differences, maintaining user preferences as the #1 driver of the product, developing a solution that is intuitive and engaging for the user while remaining cost-effective for the company.

Limitations:

Time, Resources, COVID-19 restrictions - recruiting 18 to 24 year old participants during a time of social distancing drove me to urgently reaching out to friends and family in order to prioritize the total allowed time on research, design, and testing.

Solution:

Users said they would be more inclined to upgrade if it were easier to do so, and if the value was created. I placed Calls To Action to upgrade to the premium account at the beginning of the app log-in and/or explore experience to make it easier; and utilized bright and fun colors along with additional graphics to create a sense of value. This increased the number of new Premium subscribers for both new and existing users.

Duration:

90 total hours over the course of 3 weeks.
