Clique: Reimagining Social Connection Through Frictionless Event Planning
The Quick Look
Product: A social event coordination platform for private circles and community discovery.
Core Goal: To bridge the gap between "group chats" and "confirmed plans" by centralizing scheduling and attendee networking.
Tech Stack: Developed using Bolt.new and VS Code (Claude Engineer) for rapid full-stack deployment.
Key Features: Google Calendar integration, real-time RSVP tracking, attendee networking, and private group coordination.
The Challenge: The "Group Chat" Planning Trap
Most social plans die in the group chat. Fragmented communication across apps makes it difficult to track who is actually coming, when everyone is free, and who else will be there.
The Hurdles:
Scheduling Friction: Constant back-and-forth to find a time that fits everyone’s calendar.
Fragmented Info: Details like location, time, and attendee lists getting lost in a sea of messages.
The "Stranger" Barrier: Difficulty in seeing who else is attending an event, making it harder to foster new connections within friend-of-friend circles.
Low Accountability: Easy-to-ignore invites that lead to last-minute cancellations.
The Solution: A Centralized Social "Nexus"
Clique was built to be the "source of truth" for a social circle, combining the ease of a calendar with the connectivity of a social network.
Intelligent Scheduling & Sync
Google Calendar Integration: Built a seamless OAuth flow that allows users to sync their existing schedules. This prevents double-booking and makes "checking availability" a one-click process.
Unified RSVP Dashboard: A clean, centralized view for hosts to track "Going," "Maybe," and "Declined" statuses in real-time.
Networking Within Events
Attendee Discovery: Unlike static invites, Clique allows users to view the profiles of other attendees. This fosters a sense of community and allows people to "meet" via the platform before the physical event starts.
Personal Event Creation: A simplified "Create" flow that allows anyone to spin up a dinner, hike, or housewarming party with pre-set templates.
Rapid "Agent-Led" Development
AI-Accelerated Engineering: Leveraged Bolt.new for the initial architecture and VS Code with Claude to iterate on complex logic. This allowed for the rapid implementation of the calendar sync and attendee-matching algorithms in a fraction of traditional development time.
Modular Frontend: Built a responsive, mobile-first UI designed for quick interactions—perfect for users "on the go" trying to check event details.
The Impact
Clique transformed the social logistics of its user base from chaotic messaging to organized, high-intent gatherings.
Reduced Planning Time: Users reported a significant drop in the time spent coordinating logistics, moving from hours of chatting to minutes of "Click and RSVP."
Higher Attendance Rates: The integration with personal calendars led to fewer "forgotten" events and more reliable attendance.
Enhanced Social Discovery: By making attendee lists transparent and interactive, the platform successfully facilitated introductions that wouldn't have happened in a closed group chat.
Scalable Architecture: The AI-led development process created a clean, modular codebase ready for features like split-payments or location-based suggestions.
