Betty Big is my first published children’s book and a project that’s very close to me.
I wrote this story to address bullying in a way that feels empowering rather than heavy. The book focuses on self-worth, resilience, and staying true to yourself.
I developed the story and characters with care. The language is playful and accessible, while still taking children’s emotions seriously. My goal was to create a story that feels safe, recognisable, and encouraging for young readers while also creating awareness.
Bringing this book from idea to publication was deeply meaningful to me. Knowing it can help children feel seen, understood, and less alone is what makes this project special.

This project focused on translating the inner experience of ADHD into a children’s story that feels recognizable, warm, and engaging rather than instructional.
The client wanted a book that helps children with ADHD feel seen, without framing their experience as a problem to be solved. I enjoyed working within that intention.
I ghostwrote the full manuscript, paying close attention to rhythm and language. Short bursts of thought, imaginative metaphors, and sensory details were used to mirror how an ADHD mind can jump, spiral, and refocus. The goal was to create self-acceptance.
Alongside the writing, I designed the full interior layout. The pacing, typography, and spacing were carefully considered so the pages feel calm and readable, creating balance between the story’s energy and visual rest. Structure on the page was essential to support both the narrative and the reader.
I also provided detailed instructions for the illustrator, including scene guidance, emotional cues, and visual metaphors to represent the child’s inner world.

Deliverable: private children’s book manuscript with illustrator instructions
Client location: United Kingdom

This children’s book was written for a client with a clear heart behind the concept: helping kids feel okay when they feel different.
I ghostwrote the manuscript with a warm, playful tone, using Geoff’s short neck as an easy, child-friendly way to explore comparison, self doubt, and belonging. The goal was to keep it fun and readable for children, while letting the message land gently: you don’t have to change who you are to be worthy of friendship, joy, and confidence.
To support the visual storytelling, I also provided illustrator notes throughout the manuscript, including scene guidance, expression cues, and small visual moments that strengthen the emotional arc.
This project was created exclusively for the client and has not been published for public release.
