Tartbox by Meenbakes opened in August 2021, making it the first Muslim owned tart shop in Singapore. The Pastry Chef and Owner, Sharmeen Wasim, is a Pakistani Singaporean who was only 22 years old at the time when they began operations. She had just graduated from a Degree in Pastry Arts and Food Service Management earlier that year when her elder sister encouraged her to start her own small business.
Sharmeen’s inspiration behind this concept came from her love for unique desserts. She felt that tarts were something that was lacking in Singapore’s Halal Dessert scene. Hence, she came up with Tartbox by Meenbakes to offer affordable unique tarts, fit for any occasion. The tart flavours change up from time to time, but some Signatures like the Hazelnut Milk Choco and Biscoff Cheesecake won’t be going anywhere.
I was the Account Manager for Meenbakes, a small business that sells homemade baked goods. I helped Sharmeen run her social media accounts, helped her out with photography and videography, and kept track of her inventory. I also helped her film TikTok videos bimonthly.
I created an online presence for Meenbakes through a website, which included creating the site itself and setting up Google SEO.
