The Context

Auito IP Law is a boutique intellectual property practice founded by Darrin A. Auito, bringing more than 20 years of IP experience to founders, general counsel, and business leaders navigating patents, trademarks, licensing, diligence, and IP disputes.
Problem Identified: This was the firm's first website — there was no existing site to redesign, only a newly delivered brand kit (logo, color palette, typography) and a clear mandate from the client:

This should immediately feel like a serious IP law practice, not a startup landing page or solo attorney template

The challenge wasn't fixing something broken — it was building instant credibility from zero, so a brand-new practice could stand next to established firms in front of enterprise clients.

The Goal

Design a site that:
Establishes immediate credibility for a firm with no prior digital footprint
Applies the client's brand system (burgundy palette, serif typography) consistently across a full page architecture
Speaks clearly to four distinct audiences: founders and growth-stage companies, general counsel and in-house teams, business leaders and investors, and referring attorneys
Organizes deep legal expertise — five practice areas and five industries — into a structure that's easy to scan and navigate
Leaves room to grow, with a lightweight Insights section ready for future content
The Process
The approach focused on translating a given identity into a working system, rather than designing a brand from scratch.
Focus Areas:
Restrained, editorial layout that signals seniority over volume
A repeatable card/template pattern so every Practice Area and Industry page shares the same visual logic
Clear segmentation in "Who We Work With," so each visitor type recognizes itself immediately
Working From an Existing Brand:
Rather than exploring open visual directions, the design worked directly from the client-supplied brand kit — applying its palette and typography to real layout decisions: hero composition, card hierarchy, section rhythm, and CTA placement.

The Result

Auito IP Law launched with a website that reads as an established, enterprise-grade IP practice rather than a brand-new solo shop — built and delivered in two working days for the homepage, About page, and full interior template system.
