Pomona Valley Pride

Pomona Valley Pride is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, families, allies, and surrounding communities throughout the Pomona Valley region. Through advocacy, educational programs, social services, community partnerships, and cultural initiatives, the organization works to create a more accepting and supportive future for everyone.

As the organization continued to grow its impact and expand its community programs, its existing website no longer reflected the organization’s energy, professionalism, and inclusiveness. Pomona Valley Pride needed a modern digital presence that could better communicate its mission, highlight community resources, and encourage engagement from supporters, volunteers, donors, and community members.

While the previous website contained important information, the user experience made it difficult for visitors to quickly understand the organization’s mission, locate resources, learn about programs, or discover opportunities to get involved. The site’s structure had evolved over time, resulting in fragmented, difficult-to-navigate content that limited efficient access to key information.

We identified opportunities to simplify navigation, strengthen storytelling, improve accessibility, and create clearer pathways for donations, volunteer engagement, and program participation.

These conclusions became the foundation for a website strategy focused on accessibility, community impact, and substantive engagement.

The user experience strategy is based on creating a friendly, inclusive digital experience that serves a diverse audience while making information easier to discover.

A main goal was to simplify access to the organization’s programs, services, events, and advocacy efforts. To accomplish this, we restructured the site’s information architecture and developed a clearer navigation system designed around the questions visitors were most likely to ask:

What services and programs are available?

How can I get involved?

How can I support the organization?

What events and neighborhood initiatives are happening?

Content was reorganized to create a more user-friendly journey, allowing visitors to move seamlessly between learning about the organization, browsing resources, and taking action.

Throughout the planning process, accessibility remained a core focus to ensure the website provided an inclusive experience accessible to all users.

With the strategic framework created, we moved into the design and development phase.

The visual design was made to reflect the welcoming, vibrant, and community-oriented nature of Pomona Valley Pride while continuing the professionalism expected of a growing nonprofit organization. A modern layout, strong typography, thoughtful use of color, and engaging imagery helped communicate both the organization’s mission and the people it serves.

Special attention was given to creating a clear content hierarchy and flexible page layouts that offer a wide range of content, including events, programs, resources, local projects, and organizational updates, helping the site scale with ongoing needs.

The website was developed on WordPress, providing a flexible content management system that allows the Pomona Valley Pride team to easily update content, publish events, manage resources, and continue growing the site over time.

The responsive build guarantees an optimized experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, allowing community members to access information whenever and wherever they need it.

The Pomona Valley Pride redesign transformed an aging website into a welcoming and accessible digital hub for the LGBTQIA2S+ community and its allies. Through a thoughtful UX strategy, modern design, and scalable WordPress development, the new website better communicates the organization’s mission, highlights its impact, and creates stronger opportunities for public involvement, advocacy, and support. Most importantly, it gives Pomona Valley Pride a clearer platform to serve its community and grow its reach.

Today, Pomona Valley Pride has a flexible digital platform that empowers its team to share resources, promote programs, and continue widening its reach throughout the Pomona Valley region and beyond, while better supporting its ongoing mission. It gives the organization a stronger base for future growth and a closer relationship to the community.
