Client: Both Sides  Industry: Relationships & Wellness

Goal

Both Sides is an anonymous relationship advice app that lets people ask hard questions and get an answer from a married couple, one male perspective and one female perspective on every question. Most advice apps give you a single voice. Both Sides was built to show two, so users get a balanced read on issues like trust, conflict, intimacy, and parenting without ever revealing who they are. The brief was a focused mobile MVP: ship the core question and answer loop quickly, keep it anonymous by design, and build the paid tier in from day one rather than bolting it on later.

Strategy

Platform Choice: Built with FlutterFlow on a single cross-platform codebase, so the launch could happen fast without doubling the build effort.
Anonymity First: Signup is a nickname and nothing more, which removes the biggest barrier to people asking honest relationship questions.
Dual Answer Format: Every question returns a male and a female response in a split card view. This is the core idea of the product, not a feature added on top.
Monetization Built In: A free tier gives a single standard answer, while one-time priority and a monthly membership unlock faster responses and follow-up chat with advisors.
Tech Stack: Supabase for data and auth, Firebase for push notifications, Resend for email, and custom Node and Flutter functions wherever the no-code layer needed support.
Scalability: Structured around categories and an advisor model, so the platform can grow from its founding couple to a wider panel of advisors later.

Process

Discovery & Planning

We scoped the build into a clear MVP and a separate phase 2, which kept the first release lean. The priority was the question to answer loop, anonymous accounts, categories, and payments. Anything that did not serve that core loop, including a full advisor onboarding flow, was deliberately pushed to a later phase.

Design & Prototyping

The interface was designed around trust and simplicity. Asking a question had to feel safe and quick, and reading answers had to make the two perspectives easy to compare side by side. The split male and female answer view drove most of the decisions on the response screen.

Feature Implementation

We built anonymous signup, category-based question submission across Parenting, Intimacy, Trust, and Conflict, the dual answer display, push notifications, and the full payment layer covering one-time priority and monthly membership with follow-up chat. Supabase handled data and auth, Firebase handled notifications, and Resend covered transactional email. Custom functions filled the gaps the no-code layer could not cover on its own.

Testing & Deployment

The app was tested across the core flows of signup, asking, paying, and receiving dual answers, then shipped to the App Store. The build was kept clean and stable so the first real users, along with the founding advisors, could start using it without friction.

Outcome

Live on the App Store with the full MVP feature set shipped.
Positive feedback from the client on both the build and the experience.
A stable, anonymous-by-design platform running on a lean cross-platform stack.
Phase 2 already in planning, including advisor onboarding to expand beyond the founding couple.
