Designing a Brand that Makes Science Feel Human

Innovature is a thought leadership platform built to spark open, informed dialogue around gene editing—particularly in agriculture, food, and wellness. While the science is complex, the goal was simple: create a brand that invites curiosity and helps lay the groundwork for future innovation.
I partnered with the joint teams from the American Seed Trade Association and the Biotechnology Innovation Organization to build a brand identity that balances scientific rigor with a natural sense of order and ease. To reflect the precision behind gene editing, we drew inspiration from the mise en place philosophy in professional kitchens—where every element has purpose, position, and intent. This visual metaphor became the foundation for a brand system that feels both grounded and approachable.
The result is a modern yet organic identity that encourages conversation, builds trust, and communicates the measured optimism at the heart of Innovature’s mission. By distilling complexity into clarity, we helped turn a technical subject into a human-centered story.
