Project Overview

I worked with Optaderm to deliver a full-scale digital transformation—replacing a fragmented online setup with a streamlined, scalable BigCommerce site integrated directly with Lightspeed. Optaderm specifically wanted to avoid Shopify due to limitations with its POS system, opting instead for a solution that could more effectively unify their in-store and online operations. I delivered a refined, luxury-branded storefront backed by a tightly integrated backend that supports efficiency and growth.

Client Background

Optaderm is a Canadian skincare company founded by dermatologists and scientists. Their mission is grounded in evidence-based formulations, transparency, and performance. With both a strong retail footprint and an expanding e-commerce channel, Optaderm needed a solution that could support clinical credibility and business scalability in equal measure.

Challenge

The primary goals of the project included:
Replacing a disjointed system (WordPress site + Shopify plugin) with a unified, scalable infrastructure
Avoiding the use of Shopify’s POS in favor of a more robust, retail-first solution
Creating seamless integration with Lightspeed to support real-time inventory across online and retail
Rebranding the website with a luxury feel that aligned with Optaderm’s clinical positioning
Enhancing operational efficiency while delivering a sophisticated user experience
