Urban Collective is a non-digital resource that encourages young adults to explore and document their experiences in Toronto neighbourhoods that are being gentrified, creating an indispensable archive for future generations. Rather than taking on a serious approach to this matter, Urban Collective encourages participation and solving this problem through playful branding and loose illustrations.
Composition and Design
The inspiration for Urban Collective came from risograph printing, a unique printing technique that is creates visually layered pieces and uses a limited but bright colour palette. Risograph printing inspired the vibrant, gritty and layered illustration style and typography seen throughout the design solution.
Social Media Strategy
The social media strategy incorporates the branding to create a cohesive design solution. The strategy focuses on driving the interest of young Torontonians who want to discover and explore their local neighbourhoods.
