Rebuilding an existing magazine in Figma, refining its photography, and preparing the project for its creator’s portfolio.
The starting point
MVFashion began as Maryia Malukha’s educational fashion magazine, using personal stories and outfits to explore English vocabulary.
The concept, written content, and luxury magazine direction were already established. My task was to preserve those foundations while rebuilding the visual execution and developing a complete portfolio presentation.
My role: editorial redesign, Figma production, photo editing, case study development, and video presentation.
Rebuilding the publication
I reconstructed the magazine in Figma, working through the cover, typography, page layouts, spacing, and relationships between text and photography.
The redesign gave each feature a clearer hierarchy and more room to unfold. Some stories expanded into paired pages, with large photographs balanced against quieter text areas and material details.
The original written content remained part of the publication throughout the redesign.
Bringing the photographs together
I reworked the photographs alongside the layouts, adjusting their treatment and framing to create a consistent visual tone.
Warm neutrals, controlled contrast, and coordinated imagery connected photographs taken in different settings. The cover established the direction, which continued through the editor’s letter, fashion features, and closing pages.
From publication to portfolio
Once the magazine was rebuilt, I developed the case study for Maryia’s portfolio and created a video presentation of the finished work.
This extended the project beyond the publication itself: the pages became part of a structured story explaining the original idea and showing the finished result.
The outcome
A redesigned magazine, a portfolio case study, and a video presentation — connected by one editorial direction.
