Flourish Therapy, Inc. reached out to me inquiring about a website refresh, as they felt their old Wordpress site wasn't doing them any favors in competing against other therapy clinics in the LGBTQIA+ nonprofit space. Additionally, they felt their dated website was turning away potential donors, as it didn't look very professional or put together.

After reviewing their old site pictured below, I decided we should move their site hosting to something a bit more user friendly so that they could do regular maintenance and updates themselves. They had difficulties navigating WordPress and this seemed like a great option. After presenting multiple options, they decided they'd like to rebuild the site on Squarespace.

Alongside the site rebuild, I felt it would be essential to modernize their brand; leaning into a more youthful visual identity with fun illustrations, and refreshing their rainbow palette with something a bit more balanced. As a queer person who had received life-saving therapy myself from an organization like theirs, this was such a rewarding project.

Not much of a clear visual presence outside of a standard rainbow palette and a few basic mismatching fonts.

After creating a series of brand illustrations, updating their color palette and selecting some updated typefaces, I set out transferring every bit of their old site (including over 60 blog posts which needed to be created from scratch). It took 3 months as I was working outside of my day job, but I'm so happy with how this turned out, and they were able to unveil the new site just before an important fundraising gala, which we feel made a huge difference in the turnout of their event.

This project was a perfect example of how an established organization or business can be a bit behind the times when it comes to their web and visual presence due to other priorities. When an organization like Flourish is so focused on doing life-saving work, it was easy for something like this to become less of a priority; however, bringing in outside help to take on a web and brand refresh proved to be exactly what they needed to reach their goals.
